Dead End Street is another winner by R.L. Herron!

Dead End Street is the fourth in a series from award winning author, R.L. Herron. I have followed this author from his first book Reichold Street and was thrilled to find out that he had written more about the continuing journey of a group of childhood friends.

Herron is a gifted storyteller and this novel continues to show how the past can impact so much of our present life. Paul Barrett is the main character who also happens to be a successful writer. He has experienced serious trauma in his life and his trauma isn’t over yet. Paul is very good at pushing people away but luckily he has a solid group of long-time friends who are there for him when he really needs it; however, he is also there for them. A few of the gang, Randy and Donnie aka “the twins” are now published authors and end up in the headlines. Sometimes notoriety and making headlines is not a good thing because it turns out that some old friends can hold grudges for a very long time. Events take a terrifying turn and the old gang is brought back together. The question is will all of them make it through this part of the journey alive?

Herron writes from the perspective of each character and it flows well. He continues each character’s story seamlessly and it would be easy to read all four books back-to-back without getting tired of the characters. This series should be made into a movie! R.L. Herron is one of my favourite authors and I was pleased with how the novel ended because it left me wanting more, as always. I hope this series continues on and look forward to anything he writes next.
