  FAQ

1.   What is an author free listing?

All authors sign up for free to get their own Author page in our listings pages that are made available to the public. Once you fill in the Author member form Sign up and are approved by TBR, you can then add in one or as many books that you have written to be displayed.

TBR’s free listing includes: Author name, Book title, ISBN numbers and Upload of Book cover

2. How do I get my book reviewed by TBR?

Getting a book reviewed by TBR is quite simple. First you need to become a free member and add your book information in the Author member’s section once you log in. Secondly, you need to pay for the review ($99 US). Then you will be able to upload the Digital Proof Copy in Adobe PDF form of your book to our TBR server. After that, it will take approximately 3 to 5 weeks for your review to be completed.

3. Why a Digital Proof Copy of the book? Why not ship a physical copy of the book to TBR?

We at TBR are concerned about two important things. First, to get your review back to you as quickly as possible and secondly, we are a green friendly company and are always looking for ways to improve our environment. Traditionally, a book review process is that you mail in a book to a review company that in turn mails it to a reviewer to review. This means time and money. In this age of rapidly progressing technology, we can now save time and money.

Since you are uploading a digital copy of your book, there is no cost to you for shipping or for the book itself. Also, our reviewers are all over the world therefore we do not incur shipping costs ourselves. This saves at least 2 weeks in shipping time. We receive many books each month digitally. Imagine if they were all shipped. The wasted cost of shipping and the extra time that takes would be staggering.

4. What is a Digital Proof Copy? What if I don’t have one?

Your publisher will have had you sign off on the Digital Proof of your book (exactly how it will be printed) before going to print. This should be in an Adobe PDF format.

If you do not have it, you can contact your publisher and they can email you your Digital Proof copy.

5. What about Copyright? Do I lose any rights?

No, your book is your book. The Digital Proof of your book contains your copyright information. We at TBR also protect your Digital Copy by using the services of ProtectedPDF.com. Only the assigned reviewer will be able to read your book in the assigned timeframe of 3 weeks. It can not be passed to another, printed or copied. After that your manuscript will not function on any computer, which means it is fully protected.

6. When can I add my Bio and Author picture and other information?

You can add this information once you have purchased a TBR review.

7. How does the review process work?

Once you have uploaded your book for review, it sits in a queue waiting for an available reviewer of that genre. Once the reviewer is picked, they download your book, read it and then review it. Within 3 to 5 weeks, the reviewer will then submit the review, which we here at TBR check ourselves. Yes, we review the reviews. Once we at TBR approve the review, you can then view and read the review about your book.

8. What if I do not like my review?

Our goal here at TBR is to give unbiased honest and tactful reviews. We do not offer a guarantee that you will like your review, but then again you may love it. We realize that this has taken a lot of time and effort to write and is extremely important to you, but you also came to TBR for an objective view and we will provide that review with integrity.  We do not offer refunds.

9. Where will my review be posted?

First of all, this is your review. You can post all or portions of the review on any marketing material, websites and even book covers that you have. However, we must be credited as the author of that review.  For example:

”Incredible story. A page tuner!”

We at TBR are THE place for self published reviews. Keeping our reviews in the format example above helps both of us. More reviews means more traffic to our site, which equals more exposure for your book.

Currently we also post your review on your Amazon book page, which adds to your exposure. We will be announcing in our monthly newsletters more places that your book review may be exposed to.

10. What if I do not want my review posted on Amazon?

When you sign in to your Author review page you read approve reviews (One liner, short review and long review).  You then have the option of posting it on Amazon…or not. Just click the appropriate box.  We respect your privacy and the review is yours to publicize if you choose.
