Sex, drugs and rock and roll. What more does a novel need?

Be prepared to take a trip when reading When Life Was Like a Cucumber by Greg Wyss. This trip will be unlike any one you have ever taken before. That is unless you were in your 20s, living in the late 1960s and early 1970s on the East coast, more

 Religious / Adults
Destined To Live, Despite Me speaks on the topic of suicide directly to the actual attempter in terms of spiritual direction, after they have sought counseling. It's coffee table tone also invites anyone, including individuals who may not have ever contemplated suicide, but who simply need direction in living a meaningful and purposeful life built on biblical truth. While D2LDM steers clear of giving medical or psychological guidance (The author understands and supports the need of individuals obtaining necessary medical counseling first), it doesn’t apologize for its direct approach in providing spiritual guidance for the rebuilding of one’s life on the fundamentals of our faith in God, and salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ.

An inspirational suicide survivor’s story!

Suicide, a taboo subject, delivered with an introspective viewpoint. This true story of a woman who has felt the throngs of the deepest lows and come through to the other side with healing and renewal. Destined to Live by Yolanda Shanks is a down to earth look at suicide and the negative thoughts that many of us have had at some point that can lead to suicidal thoughts or suicide.

She probes the questions we all ask. Who Am I? Why are we here? Who is God? Yolanda has looked at herself with a magnifying glass and shared what she found in words – revealing herself in a way that takes courage. She is a Christian who shares her beliefs and why they were and are so vital to her personal growth.

I especially liked the fact that Yolanda donates $1 for each copy sold to the American Association of Suicidology’s (AAS) One Million Voices Campaign. If you believe that someone close to you is contemplating suicide, has ever contemplated or, if you have any questions about someone who has gone through it, this book is a must read.
