| Review 1: |
It is always a pleasure reading such an uplifting book of poetry. Pictures From The Heart by Larry “B” Bertram are poems focusing on love. Complete with all of the juiciness of love when it is fresh and full of passion to when love dies and the heartache after it is gone. The book is broken out into sections and there is a wide variety of content to choose from.
I particularly enjoyed the author’s poem named Reunion. It is based on the memory of a first love, the first kiss, and the bittersweet memory and enjoyment of that moment upon reflection as an adult.
The poems didn't always compel me to read them. That is simply a matter of timing. It depends on the reader’s mood. Some days a poem about inspiration will resonate and other days it may be about heartbreak. This would be a lovely book to have on a bookshelf to pull out every once in a while when the mood strikes. There is such a variety that I know there would be a poem that would resonate almost anytime. |

It is always a pleasure reading such an uplifting book of poetry. Pictures From The Heart by Larry “B” Bertram are poems focusing on love. Complete with all of the juiciness of love when it is fresh and full of passion to when love dies and the heartache after it is gone. The book is broken out into several sections and there is a wide variety of content to choose from.
The first section entitled Two Beats is a collection about intense love that is shared with a partner. I particularly enjoyed the author’s poem named Reunion. It is based on the memory of a first love, the first kiss, and the bittersweet memory and enjoyment of that moment upon reflection as an adult.
The next sections talk about Inspirations, loving and losing deeply, heartbreaks, the joy of love whether it be a lover, friend or family member. There were a few poems in the book that didn't seem to fit with the rythym and flow of the rest of the book in the last two chapters. They were Last Breath and I Feel The Fire. It wasn't that the content did not flow, but rather that the style of poetry was so different than all of the other poems. My favourite part of the book was the final section where the author opened up and personalized the book. The collection about the loss of a close lifetime friend was intensely personal and thoughtful.
Poetry expresses such deep feelings and this collection by Larry "B" Bertram goes deep into the well of love. Congratulations Larry and we look forward to your next collection. |
