| Long Review: |
Bob Burnham and Jeff McCallum give 101 Reasons Why You Must Write a Book and then tell you how to do it. Published in 2007, the information provided is still relevant. The authors cover everything from discovering what you may write about to actually giving you the action plan. Reading the 101 reasons at the beginning of the book became a bit tedious but then they get to 120 pages of meat and potatoes.
The action plan for moving from idea to writing and planning is clear and the writing tips are helpful. They discuss the pros and cons of using a ghostwriter and self-publishing versus a publishing house and then delve into the printing options available. The marketing possibilities, especially for an informational, non-fiction book are fascinating and the money making options are well laid out. The self-promotion that is available to authors by creating their own website and utilizing internet marketing is enticing because it is cost effective. Other than the 101 reasons that ran too long, their was little that was didn't interest and it is a recommended read to any potential or current author. |
